The IBCA Select Red team placed second at the Adidas Battle on the Plains July 22-24 in Lincoln, NE.  They won their first 5 games of the tournament before dropping the championship game to the host team, Nebraska CSS Bison by 4 points.  The Red team finished the summer circuit 28-5 which was the 4th straight summer in which team won 27 or more games, never losing more than 5 games in one year.  The IBCA Red team is 114 - 17 over the past 4 years.  The IBCA White team finished in 9 place and the IBCA Blue team placed 3rd in the 14U bracket.

Nike End of the Oregon Trail, Portland, OR
The IBCA Select Red & White Teams competed July 6-9 in suburban Portland, OR. The White Team dropped three very close games to open the tournament (leading all 3 at the half) before finishing the tournament with a win vs. Nor Cal Elite. The IBCA Red team won their first 3 games of the tournament to advance to the quarter finals of their 32 team bracket before losing to the Wichita Bearcats.  They lost another close game to the loaded Texas Blazers before winning their 7th place game handily vs. High Intensity to finish the elite tournament 4-2.  

Nike Summer Showcase, Chicago, IL

The IBCA Select Red Team finished a great weekend in Chicago at the Nike Summer Showcase. After losing a close game in the opener vs. Nike Alabama Roadrunners the IBCA Red took off for a string of 4 straight victories to secure the consolation championship in the star studded "white" bracket. They defeated Legends Blue, KC Select, & the WBA Lady Knicks to reach the consolation final Monday morning.  In the final, they overcame a slow start, trailing 7-20, before charging back to win 53-38 over Mile Hi Magic (a final four team in Oregon). The 46-18 run over the final 3/4 of the game was keyed on half court team defense and domination of the glass.  The victory pushed the IBCA's July record to 8-3 between Portland & Chicago at the two largest evaluation tournaments in the country.  Their season record is 23-4.

The IBCA Select White & Blue teams both started 2-0 advancing to the quarter finals of their respective brackets.  Tough, close losses (including a Double OT sudden death loss for the white team) followed as both teams finished 2-3 in Chicago. All three teams will finish the summer at the Adidas Battle on the Plains July 22-24 in Lincoln, NE.

The IBCA (Iowa Basketball Coaches Association) Girls Select Team won the 32 team Miss Basketball Dakota Showcase over the weekend in Sioux Falls, SD.  The tournament featured 32 all-star teams from 8 states.  IBCA Select previously won the took the championship in 2005 and is the only Iowa team to ever win the event.  They finished 6-0 cruising through pool play and surviving 2 tough bracket play games before blowing out Nebraska Bison Select 72-49 in the final.

Players include Trisha Nesbitt (Ames), Jaime Printy (Linn-Mar), Katelyn Sunde (DM East), Katie Gustafson (S.Hamilton), Riley Norman (DM Roosevelt), Brittany Peterson (Spencer), Katie Schechinger (IKM-Manning), Kionna Kellogg (Ames), Jess McDowell (AGWSR), & Amber Kirschbaum (Spirit Lake).  The team is coached by Adam DeJoode (SE Polk), Joel Sullivan (Ames), & BJ Mayer (Iowa City West).  

Nesbitt and McDowell were named to the All-Tournament Team with Schechinger being named tournament MVP.  The IBCA Select Team will next play at the Nike End of the Trail Tournament in Portland, Oregon July 6-9.

3/31/08 - The IBCA (Iowa Basketball Coaches Association) Select Red Team won their 5th consecutive 16U Junior Eligible State AAU Girls Basketball Championship over the weekend at Hoover High School in Des Moines.  The IBCA Select Red cruised through the 10 team all-star field winning by 45, 15, 35, 36, & 17 points.  Jaime Printy (Linn-Mar) and Trisha Nesbitt (Ames) were named to the All-Tournament Team with Nesbitt earning MVP honors. Other team members include; Katelyn Sunde (Johnston), Katie Gustafson (S.Hamilton), Riley Norman (Roosevelt), Brittany Peterson (Spencer), Katie Schechinger (IKM), Kionna Kellogg (Ames), Amber Kirschbaum (Spirit Lake), & Jess McDowell (AGWSR).  Coaches are Adam DeJoode (SE Polk) and BJ Mayer (Iowa City West).
